ReachOut 2024 // July 7th-13th

What We’re About

ReachOut is a week-long summer camp for incoming 8th graders through graduated High School Seniors. We meet at Lakeside, Ohio for a week of worship, mission, and friendship!

We are:

Youth-Organized — Planned by 7 campers (the “PC’s”)

Missions-Oriented — Spending 2 days in small groups serving across Northern Ohio.

A Worship Community — Our week is designed around services, worship music, and bible studies growing us closer to Jesus in community.

Info

ReachOut is a camp for incoming 8th graders through graduated High School seniors.

The camp is led by 7 high school juniors and seniors.  They are elected each year by their fellow campers to plan the camp for the following year. The planning committee (also known as ‘PC’s’) are these 7 youth, and they meet throughout for retreat weekends alongside two adult staff, the Deans. This is what makes ReachOut unique compared to other camps — it is with youth, for youth, and by youth!

These PC’s lead prayers, worship services, large group games, devotions and other various activities throughout the week.  This allows the campers to see their peers in a leadership position and sharing in their faith.

The whole week is based on a Scripture that serves as the theme verse.  The Bible study and worship services surround the theme – for example, the Scripture for ReachOut 2023 was Joshua 1:9.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Missions

ReachOut is also unique because we spend part of our week out serving the community!

For one night and 2 days, campers break into small groups, driven by their male+female mission group leaders, to different sites all over Northern Ohio.

Some do physical work at non-profits, some help put on VBS programs, and others work with communities in need such as veterans and youth with developmental disabilities.

Missions are a key component of our week and always help us grow in faith together.

Worship

Our worship services are unique each day and planned by our PC’s!

We have a great band made up of our volunteer staff, and we also hear from a variety of speakers throughout the week as well.

Incorporating music, scripture, and more tactile, hands-on stations, ReachOut worship services always leave a mark to be remembered.

Lakeside

Lakeside, Ohio is a gated community that has hosted ReachOut for over 50 years!  ReachOut campers reside at a couple classic Lakeside facilities: the girls stay at WoHoMis, a two-story lodge, and the boys stay in the HillTop House and Cabins, a guest house and smaller cabin-style sites.

Both are within close walking distance to our dining at Wesley Lodge and our central meeting location for worship, South Auditorium.

More information about Lakeside can be found here: http://www.lakesideohio.com/
